Our Products

IICT  is dedicated to bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application in the fast-paced realm of IoT communications. Practical learning requires hardware, software and a structured learning concept. IICT combines these points in one product, a Testbed. In the context of IICT, a "Testbed" refers to a controlled & unified environment where IoT communication technologies can be trained, tested, evaluated, and demonstrated. This environment is designed to mimic real-world conditions into controllable and repeatable conditions, allowing users—be it academic institutions, training centers, EdTech companies, innovative SMEs—to facilitate hands on training and experiment with and understand the capabilities, limitations, and potential usecases of different IoT Communication technologies.

Educational Lab Kits (5G/IoT)  & CoEs

Explore foundational and advanced concepts in IoT/ 5G communication through our real hardware and software based learning environment. Ideal for students and educators, our user-friendly interfaces and modular components provide a hands-on experience to understand the intricacies of IoT communications.

Experimental & Usecase Testbed

Research and develop IoT communication usecases with IICT's Experimental & Use-case Testbeds. Our testbed allows researchers, engineers, and students to explore and innovate in the realms of 5G, IoT, and beyond. From prototyping to real-world scenario testing, unlock the potential of tomorrow's technologies today.

Meet our Core team

Founding history: International IoT Communication Technologies (IICT) is a spin- off from research institute for Reliable Embedded Systems and Communication Electronics (ivESK) and Steinbeis Transfer Center for Embedded Design and Networking (stzedn), Germany exclusively focusing on IoT communication technologies training and knowledge transfer in European and international markets. The history of IICT began in 2002, when Prof. Dr.-Ing. Sikora from Baden-Wuerttemberg University of Cooperative Education Loerrach founded the Steinbeis Transfer Center for Embedded Design and Networking (stzedn). Since then, the team around Prof. Sikora has been working on various deep engineering R&D projects in the field of embedded connectivity, Internet of Things, Smart Cities and Smart Metering. In 2011 Prof. Sikora joined Offenburg University. There he founded and shaped what today is the Institute for Reliable Embedded Systems and Communication Electronics (ivESK). Commercial training and technologies transfer projects continued with stzedn. The founding team, Fabian Sowieja and Jubin Sebastian E have been working together with Prof. Sikora for several years in the field of IoT communication technologies, applied research, testing and automation as well as the preparation of practical laboratories at ivESK and via stzedn in training and transfer projects. Within various R&D projects, a standardised testbed solution for various IoT communication technologies was developed. After recognizing the need for a deep-tech hands-on training and systematic R&D experimentation environment for state of the art and next generation technologies for IoT communication, IICT was established as a professional and strategic spin-off business entity exclusively for academic, vocational, and life-long training solutions in 2023.

Management

Fabian Sowieja

Co-Founder & Managing Director
Technical

Fabian Sowieja is an engineer and researcher with a background in industrial automation and mechatronic systems. He holds an M.Sc. in “Mechatronic Systems” from Furtwangen University, Germany. During his studies he could expand his professional experience in various industrial companies in the fields of automation, sensor technologies and wireless communication. By working on various engineering and researching topics, he has gained a very good practical understanding in wireless IoT systems, software engineering and the development of automation and test solutions. Since 2021, with his role as senior research engineer at the institute of reliable embedded systems and communication electronics (ivESK), he is responsible for test and measurement projects on wireless IoT systems, embedded software engineering and automation activities, as well as the knowledge transfer from the wireless domain to other projects.
